This great-house is always fun to tour. The history in the place seeps out of every well maintained antique and every immaculate room.
The tours themselves are a bit hit and miss. Every time I’ve been the guides do an acceptable job, however some take much more time and are visibly enjoying giving the tour, where as others tend to rush through it.
The price is quite high and if the guide rushes through the house it can leave you feeling a bit flat. The first tour we had (2023) was nearly twice as long as the last one (summer 2025).
Overall, it’s a great tour to take and I highly recommend it for its historical value and local relevance. Your mileage may vary.

You simply can't visit Kingston without stopping by Devon House. Recently, I, along with several family members, decided to book a tour of this historic site, guided by a delightful and knowledgeable tour guide. The history of this magnificent house is truly fascinating.
Today, Devon House stands as a national heritage site owned by the Jamaican Government. It was built by George Stiebel, who is believed to be Jamaica's first black millionaire (c.1821-1896).
While we were there, we had the chance to sample their award-winning ice cream. I opted for the pistachio flavor, and it was absolutely delicious! If only we had more time, I would have happily gone back for seconds. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return, if only for the ice cream!

We had an awesome tour guide her name was Barbara, she was very knowledgeable about the history of Devon House. Barbara even serenaded the group with her amazingly beautiful voice. My group had a great time, well worth visiting if ever in Jamaica. We had bought some Devon House ice cream after the tour, it was great, but a little pricey. The beef patties at Devon House bakery was amazing, stuffed more then other patties we tried on the island, we also tried the fish and shrimp patties they were great too.

Exceptional Quality Icrecream. So many flavours to choose from. The pricing was very comparable to Baskin Robbins. I would go back over and over again ....lol
Now there are also many cute shops to check out. Tea shop, natural lotions etc, jewelery, jerk shop, patties, a spa souvenirs and more.

One of the BEST stops you'll make in Kingston. The best ice cream on the island and many say in the world. The BEST homemade patties at the bakery. The curry goat patties and the beef and even the shrimp or lobster. There are bars and good Jamaican restaurants in their, even for soup.
